Transfers of legal domicile from Iceland must be registered within 7 days. Special rules apply to the transfer of legal domicile of Nordic citizens within the Nordic countries.


Transfer of legal domicile to the Nordic countries

Transfer of legal domicile between the Nordic countries must always be registered in person in the requisite registration office (office of the municipality/local authorities in which you intend to reside) in the country to which you are moving.

Denmark, the Faeroe Islands and Greenland.

You will need to provide the information that the new country of residence requires and present personal identification documents proving your nationality, e.g. a passport.

If you are domiciled overseas you can register an agent to represent you in Iceland in the Population Registry. The application can be sent by e-mail. The name, ID No. and telephone number of the agent must be specified.
