The lookup will be available on April 10, 2026, when the municipal electoral registers are ready for publication.
Where is my polling station?
Here, voters can check whether and where they are registered on the electoral roll for the municipal elections to be held on May 16, 2026.
When a national ID number (kennitala) is entered, the voter’s name and legal domicile will appear, along with the municipality. Information about the polling station and polling division will also be displayed.
Voters are registered on the electoral roll in the municipality where they have their legal domicile registered on the reference date, April 8, 2026.

Who can vote in municipal elections in Iceland?
- Icelandic citizens who have reached 18 years of age on election day and have legal domicile in the municipality
- Nordic citizens (from Denmark, Finland, Norway, or Sweden) who have reached 18 years of age on election day and have legal domicile in the municipality
- Foreign citizens who have had continuous residence in Iceland for at least 3 years prior to the end of the election day and have legal domicile in the municipality
Students in the Nordic countries may apply to be included on the electoral register for municipal elections
- Applications must be received by Registers Iceland / Þjóðskrá no later than 40 days before election day

A voter must be registered with legal domicile in the municipality by 12:00 noon, 38 days before election day, according to the national register
