Purpose of Surveillance
Electronic surveillance is conducted for security and property protection purposes. The surveillance is carried out using CCTV cameras located in the reception area of Registers Iceland. Care is taken to respect the privacy rights of individuals subject to surveillance, avoiding any unnecessary interference with their private lives.
Categories of Personal Data
Where deemed necessary for security and property protection, video footage captured by the surveillance system is processed. This footage may contain images of individuals, such as employees, clients, or visitors who have passed through the monitored area, as well as their activities.
Lawful Basis for Processing
The processing is based on Point 6, Paragraph 1, Article 9, and Point 6, Paragraph 1, Article 11 of the Icelandic Data Protection Act No. 90/2018. Electronic surveillance is conducted on the basis of the legitimate interests of Registers Iceland for the purpose of ensuring security and protecting property.
Recipients of Video Footage
All access to material generated by electronic surveillance is access-controlled and restricted to specific designated staff members. Footage containing information about accidents or criminal offences may be disclosed to the police, or Registers Iceland may be required by law to provide access to the material.
Retention Period
Video footage is retained for 30 days. After that period, the footage is deleted unless objective and justified reasons exist for longer retention.
Rights of Individuals

Otherwise, your rights are governed by Chapter III of Act No. 90/2018 on Data Protection and Processing of Personal Data, cf. further provisions in Chapter III of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
