Where is my polling station?
Here can voters check whether and where they are on the electoral register for the public referendum to be held on August 29, 2026.
When an ID number (kennitala) is entered, the voter’s name and legal domicile appear along with their municipality. Information about the polling place and voting district will also be displayed.
Voters are on the electoral register in the municipality where they have their registered legal domicile on the reference date of the electoral register, July 22, 2026.

Who has the right to vote in public referendums?
- Icelandic citizen who has reached 18 years of age on election day and has a registered legal domicile in Iceland.
- Icelandic citizen who has reached 18 years of age and HAS had a registered legal domicile in Iceland retains the right to vote for sixteen years from the date they move their legal domicile abroad.
After 16 years of residence abroad, an application must be submitted to Registers Iceland (Þjóðskrá Íslands) to be placed on the electoral register. - Foreign citizens residing in Iceland who have not been granted Icelandic citizenship do not have the right to vote in parliamentary elections, presidential elections, or national referendums.
