Delivery of passports

Passports can be obtained in three ways:

  1. Collected at Registers Iceland, Borgartún 21, 105 Reykjavík.
  2. Collected at a domestic or foreign application location.
  3. Sent by registered mail in special cases when it needs to be delivered abroad.

Note that passports are produced by the National Registry, so applicants should plan accordingly if they wish to collect their passports at an application location.

If the applicant cannot collect the passport in person, they can authorize someone else to do so. However, a legal guardian must collect a child's passport unless they grant authorization to someone else.

Please note that if a passport is not collected within 6 months, it will be canceled.
