Lost/stolen passport
Passports that are reported lost are registered in the Schengen and Interpol information systems and are therefore invalid. If a passport is lost, it must be reported immediately to the police, Registers Iceland, a district commissioner, an embassy, or a consulate abroad, along with a detailed account of what happened to it.
Once an ID document has been registered in the above-mentioned systems, this action is irreversible and may cause significant inconvenience if the document is presented at a border.
Please note that you may only report your own passport and those of children for whom you have custody.
If the passport is found, it must be returned to the police, Registers Iceland, a district commissioner, an embassy, or a consulate abroad.
